Dr. Rajan Sriskandarajah MD

Dr. Sriskandarajah (Dr. Rajan, as he is known) has been in practice in Dutchess County since 1980. After having practiced both Obstetrics and Gynecology for twenty years, he now provides office gynecological services only.

He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecology (UK). He is also a member of the New York State Medical Association and the Dutchess County Medical Society.

Dr. Rajan earned his bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Ceylon, Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1969, and his Master’s degree in Public Health from New York Medical College in 1993.

He did his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, and in London, England. He was certified by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 1977 and was admitted to membership of the Royal College in the same year.

He immigrated to the US in 1978 and did further residency at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital and Danbury Hospital Medical Center. He became a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 1980. He was certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1982.

In 1987, Dr. Rajan was invited to and accepted fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of the United Kingdom.

He has been a Clinical Assistant Professor at the New York Medical College since 1992.

Dr. Rajan started practice in Dutchess County in 1980, first as the director of the ‘Care Center’ at the Vassar Brothers Medical Center, and then as a solo-practitioner (1985-1998). He merged his practice with Fishkill Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1998.

Dr. Rajan was honored by the Foundation for Vassar Brother's Medical Center in 2003 for his outstanding services to the community.

He lives in Poughkeepsie, New York, with his wife Nalaini Sriskandarajah MD, a Psychiatrist.
